Best IGCSE Physics Teacher in the UAE

Nobody publishes a ranking of IGCSE physics teachers in the UAE, so the honest question is not who is number one but what you should actually check before you hand over a term of your child's physics. This page gives that checklist, with the parts that are specific to the UAE, and then puts the record of Eng. Ahmed Sherif against it.

The short answer

Eng. Ahmed Sherif (Shefo) has taught IGCSE and O Level physics since 2019, to more than 2,000 students, with around 90 percent finishing with an A* or an A. He teaches Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain students live online, on Dubai time, UTC+4, and every class is recorded.

The UAE school week breaks most tutoring timetables

The UAE moved to a Monday to Friday working week on 1 January 2022, with a Saturday and Sunday weekend. Every other country in the Gulf still runs Sunday to Thursday. That single fact quietly ruins a lot of regional tutoring, because a group class built for Riyadh puts its heaviest session on a Sunday evening, which is the last night of a UAE student's weekend and the night before school.

UAE students are therefore scheduled separately rather than folded into a Saudi or Qatari group. Dubai and Abu Dhabi also sit an hour ahead of Riyadh, Doha, Manama and Kuwait City, so a class that starts at 7pm in Riyadh starts at 8pm in Dubai. Ask any prospective teacher what that means for your week before you book.

Six things to check before you choose

1. Ask whether they run a separate UAE timetable

If the answer is that you will join the Gulf class, check which night it falls on. A Sunday evening class is a Monday morning problem in Dubai and not in Riyadh.

2. Ask which board your school uses, then ask if they teach it

British curriculum schools in the UAE sit Cambridge 0625 or Edexcel 4PH1. Many schools do not state it publicly, so check your own entry code. The two exams have different papers and different mark schemes.

3. Be careful with agency listings

Several sites that rank at the top for physics tutors in Dubai are agencies that will pass you to whichever tutor is free. That is a booking service, not a teacher. Ask who is actually teaching and look them up.

4. Ask for the Paper 6 plan

The practical paper is where UAE students who are good at physics still lose grades, because school lab time rarely matches what the exam asks for in writing.

5. Ask what happens when your school sets a mock

British curriculum schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi run mock seasons that do not line up with each other. Recorded lessons and a movable slot matter more here than almost anywhere.

6. Ask what the past papers cost

They should cost nothing. The full Cambridge and Edexcel archive is free on this site with no account.

Where UAE students lose the most marks

These are the places marks go missing most often, taken from marking student scripts rather than from a textbook contents page. Each one is a specific habit, not a topic to revise again.

The gas laws

Pressure times volume equals a constant only at constant temperature, and the temperature in any gas equation must be in kelvin. Add 273 first, as a separate written step, before touching the calculator.

Specific heat capacity and latent heat

Students apply E equals m c delta T to a change of state, where the temperature is not changing at all. If the substance is melting or boiling, it is E equals m L and delta T is zero.

Describing an experiment in words

Paper 6 asks what you would measure, with what instrument, and how you would make it reliable. Naming the equipment is one mark; saying how you keep the other variables the same is the mark most students miss.

Circuit questions with two resistors

Series and parallel are decided by whether the current has one path or a choice of paths, not by how the diagram is drawn. Redraw the circuit before calculating anything.

Graphs of motion

On a distance time graph the gradient is speed; on a speed time graph the gradient is acceleration and the area is distance. Students who memorise this without drawing it lose the interpretation marks.

Evaporation and cooling

Evaporation happens at all temperatures from the surface, boiling happens throughout at one temperature. The cooling comes from the fastest particles leaving, which lowers the average energy of those left behind. That sentence is the mark.

Resistance of a wire

Resistance increases with length and decreases with cross-sectional area. Students state one and forget the other, or say a thicker wire has more resistance because it is bigger. Write both relationships down before answering.

Energy resources and Sankey diagrams

The width of each arrow is proportional to the energy, so the arrows must be drawn to scale and must add up. Marks are for the scale and the labelled values, not for neatness.

Which exam you are actually sitting

This is the question most students in the UAE get wrong, and it is worth settling in five minutes. British curriculum schools across the Gulf enter students for one of two different physics exams, and many schools do not publish which one on their website. Check your entry code with your school office.

Questions from the UAE

Do you teach IGCSE physics students in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Yes. Classes are live online on Dubai time and recorded, with UAE students scheduled around the Monday to Friday school week rather than the Sunday to Thursday one used elsewhere in the Gulf.

What time are the classes in UAE time?

Evenings, Dubai time. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are one hour ahead of Riyadh, Doha, Manama and Kuwait City, so a Gulf class at 7pm Riyadh is 8pm in the UAE.

Cambridge or Edexcel for IGCSE physics in the UAE?

Both are used across UAE British curriculum schools and many schools do not publish which. Check your entry code: Cambridge Physics is 0625, Edexcel International GCSE Physics is 4PH1. Both are taught here, separately.

When were June 2026 IGCSE results released in the UAE?

Cambridge released June 2026 IGCSE and O Level results at 05:00 UTC on 18 August 2026, which is 9am in Dubai. Edexcel International GCSE results went to candidates on 20 August 2026.

Is this a tutoring agency?

No. Shefo Squad is one teacher, Eng. Ahmed Sherif, with a team supporting the classes. You are not passed to whoever is available.
