Best IGCSE Physics Teacher in Oman

Oman is the hardest Gulf country to find a specialist IGCSE physics teacher in person, especially outside Muscat. That makes the online choice more important here than anywhere else in the region, and it makes the checks below worth doing properly. This page sets them out and then gives the record of Eng. Ahmed Sherif against them.

The short answer

Eng. Ahmed Sherif (Shefo) has taught IGCSE and O Level physics since 2019, to more than 2,000 students, with around 90 percent finishing with an A* or an A. He teaches Muscat, Salalah and Sohar students live online, on Muscat time, UTC+4, and every class is recorded.

Oman keeps its own combination of clock and week

Oman shares its clock with Dubai and Abu Dhabi, an hour ahead of Riyadh, Doha, Manama and Kuwait City. But unlike the UAE, Omani schools still run Sunday to Thursday. That combination is unique in the Gulf, and it is the reason an Omani student can end up in a class built for the UAE on the wrong nights, or in a class built for Saudi Arabia at the wrong hour.

Distance matters here too. A student in Salalah has far fewer in-person options than one in Muscat, and the honest answer is that a live online class with a recording is usually better than the nearest available in-person alternative, not a compromise on it.

Six things to check before you choose

1. Check the slot in Muscat time and on an Omani week

Oman runs Sunday to Thursday on Dubai's clock. Ask for the actual start time in Muscat and which nights, not a promise of flexibility.

2. Ask for the syllabus code

British curriculum schools in Oman sit Cambridge 0625 or Edexcel 4PH1. Confirm which one your school enters you for before choosing a teacher.

3. Ask what happens if your connection drops in Salalah or Sohar

Recorded classes and downloadable notes are not a nice extra outside Muscat, they are the thing that makes online teaching work at all.

4. Ask about the practical paper

Paper 6 asks you to describe experiments in writing. Students whose schools have limited lab time are not at a disadvantage on it if they are taught it properly.

5. Ask what happens between classes

One class a week with nothing in between does very little. Ask what you are meant to do on the other days and who marks it.

6. Use the free archive first

Every Cambridge and Edexcel past paper and mark scheme on this site is free from Oman, with no account and no regional block.

Where Omani students lose the most marks

These are the places marks go missing most often, taken from marking student scripts rather than from a textbook contents page. Each one is a specific habit, not a topic to revise again.

Speed time graphs

The area under a speed time graph is the distance travelled, and for a triangle that is half base times height. Students find the gradient out of habit and answer the wrong question.

Acceleration with a negative sign

Deceleration is negative acceleration, and the sign has to survive into the final answer. Write the direction you are calling positive at the top of the working.

Work, energy and power

Work equals force times distance moved in the direction of the force. If the object does not move, no work is done, however hard it is pushed.

Efficiency

Efficiency is useful output over total input, and it can never exceed 100 percent. An answer above 100 means the wrong two numbers were divided, and it should be spotted before it is written down.

Describing an experiment without a lab

Paper 6 is a written paper. Students with limited lab time are not at a disadvantage on it, as long as they have practised writing the method, the variables and the sources of error.

Momentum in collisions

Momentum is mass times velocity and it is conserved in a collision. Velocity has direction, so one of the two objects usually carries a minus sign. Decide which direction is positive and write it down first.

Stopping distance

Stopping distance is thinking distance plus braking distance. Tiredness and distraction change the thinking distance; wet roads and worn brakes change the braking distance. Marks are lost by putting a factor in the wrong half.

Power

Power is the rate of energy transfer, in joules per second. A question that gives you a time is almost always asking for power even when it does not use the word, so watch for it.

Which exam you are actually sitting

This is the question most students in Oman get wrong, and it is worth settling in five minutes. British curriculum schools across the Gulf enter students for one of two different physics exams, and many schools do not publish which one on their website. Check your entry code with your school office.

Questions from Oman

Can I join IGCSE physics classes from Muscat or Salalah?

Yes. Classes are live online on Muscat time and recorded, which is what makes them workable from Salalah and Sohar as well as the capital.

What time are the classes in Oman?

Evenings, Muscat time. Oman shares Dubai's clock but keeps the Sunday to Thursday school week, so the nights are the Gulf nights and the hour is the UAE hour.

Which syllabuses are taught?

Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625, Edexcel International GCSE Physics 4PH1, Cambridge Combined Science 0653 and Cambridge AS and A Level Physics 9702.

When were June 2026 results released in Oman?

Cambridge released June 2026 IGCSE and O Level results at 05:00 UTC on 18 August 2026, which is 9am in Muscat. Edexcel International GCSE results went to candidates on 20 August 2026.

What if I miss a class?

Every class is recorded and stays available, so a missed lesson is watched later rather than lost.

Do the past papers work from Oman?

Yes. The full archive is free with no account and no regional restriction.
