This is the Edexcel International GCSE Physics 4PH1 Paper 1, sat in the 2017 specimen set. Do the paper under exam timing first, then mark it yourself with the mark scheme. That second step is where the grade actually moves.
What Paper 1 is testing
- Edexcel Paper 1, one hundred and ten marks in two hours. It covers the whole specification, including the Paper 2 only content if you are on the higher route.
- Edexcel gives more marks for straight recall than Cambridge does. The equation list is worth memorising cold.
- Practical questions come up in the written paper. Know the core practicals by name and by method.
- Six mark written answers are marked by levels. Structure it, use the physics words, and link each point to the next.
