This is the Cambridge IGCSE Combined Science 0653 (Physics) Paper 4, variant 2, sat in May/June 2017. Do the paper under exam timing first, then mark it yourself with the mark scheme. That second step is where the grade actually moves.
What Paper 4 is testing
- Theory paper, eighty marks in an hour and fifteen minutes, Extended tier.
- One mark is one scoring point. A four mark question needs four distinct statements, not one idea repeated.
- Explain questions want a cause linked to an effect. "The resultant force is zero, so the acceleration is zero, so the speed stays constant" scores. "It stays the same" does not.
- Graph questions are marked on the gradient and the area. Say which one you are using and why.
